Keld Green Cafe is a welcoming countryside spot tucked into the heart of Keld, offering a relaxed setting that suits walkers, locals, and anyone passing through the Richmond Dales. The interior has a comforting, rustic feel with an open fire that’s especially appreciated on damp or chilly days. Outside, when the sun’s out, the seating takes full advantage of sweeping views across the dale, making it an easy place to slow down and soak in the landscape.

This cafe is best known for hearty, homemade fare that fits perfectly with the active, outdoorsy crowds often found in this part of North Yorkshire. After a morning walk or a day exploring nearby waterfalls, the full English breakfasts and breakfast baps provide satisfying fuel. The menu also offers comforting options like homemade soups, various rarebits, and fresh cakes, which pair well with coffee or tea for a relaxed midday break.

Visitors are likely to appreciate the casual, neighborly atmosphere here. The owners’ friendly approach means it feels less like a tourist stop and more like a local hangout, where you can expect a chat alongside your meal. Practical touches such as wifi and card payment service show the cafe is mindful of today’s needs without losing its laid-back pace.

The best time to visit is either on a crisp morning to warm up by the fire with a rich breakfast or on a sunny afternoon to enjoy the outdoor seating with views. Dogs are welcome, making it a convenient pit stop for those exploring the Dales with their four-legged companions.

Always a warm welcome and a friendly chat from Quin and Sally. Cosy inside or splendid sunny views outside. The best Breakfast Bap in the Dale and the Keld Green Rarebit is something special.

Lovely little cafe serving hearty homemade food, perfect for hungry walkers or passers by. We were a bit cold and soggy and really appreciated the roaring fire to warm up and dry off. Very reasonable prices, friendly service and they even have a card machine and wifi which is very handy too.

Lovely spot for a stop in the Dales and always good food and lovely views. Can't believe the person who complained at waiting 8 minutes for water. I'd have complained that it came too quickly! Just relax, take in the views, slow down and unwind with a nice coffee. Did they have an important business meeting to attend. If you're complaining about the pace of life here, the Dales aren't for you.

A hidden gem surrounded by beautiful views, and the owners are just wonderful. Visited whilst on a waterfall walk with my pup. Great cake and coffee, looking forward to visiting again, a real treasure tucked away in nature.

Called here at this dog friendly cafe this Sunday lunchtime where we received a warm welcome by the proprietors and the open fire. Had a quality full English, all freshly cooked properly and perfectly, frilly eggs, delicious. The omelette was excellent also as was the brack and Wensleydale cheese...oh ... and the flapjack to go We'll definitely return when next in the area.

We had the "small" breakfast which was delicious with well cooked, good quality ingredients all at a very reasonable price. Friendly owners who opened early to accommodate us and some young walkers. We will be going back soon.

Great stop for breakfast or lunch. Stopped midday and had the hikers breakfast with a pot of tea. Best breakfast on the whole coast to coast route. We got lucky with the weather and sat outside in the sun. Had many other options for food, desserts, snacks, drinks, etc. Feels like a family run place and cozy.

The owners opened up for us especially. Two Hiker Breakfasts, just the best. Internet was down so we went back two days later to pay. Proper local cafe run by people invested in their business and their guests. A genuine one off. Enjoy it while you can.
